Welsh Springer Spaniels are well loved as a family dog for their size and affectionate disposition. They are very loyal dogs that are happiest when with their family, being included in family activities. The Welsh Springer is a beautiful red and white medium sized dog. They carry the nickname "velcro dog" because they are always (if allowed) by your side. No matter where you are in the house, that is where they want to be!

I often say if you have two children, the Welsh will be your third. They will love to be with your family, whether it is hiking, swimming, boating, or chasing balls, and they will very much enjoy going places with you like children's soccer and baseball games. A favorite place for them to nap is on your foot while you're reading your email. They are happiest just being with you.

For the sporting/hunting folks you will find Welsh a very energetic, enthusiastic partner. They have a great nose, especially for upland game birds. They will quarter, flush the bird and then retrieve it for you. I find this breed a great companion, willing to try any activity that you and your family enjoy.
